World egg day 2025!

Every year on the second Friday of October, the world celebrates World Egg Day, honoring one of nature’s most complete and nutritious foods. Care and compassion are values that never lose their importance, which is why this year Latvia’s largest egg producer, Balticovo, is donating 10,000 eggs to the food bank “Paēdušai Latvijai” (“Fed Latvia”) to give those most in need the opportunity to enjoy this nutrient-rich and wholesome product.

This year, the World Egg Organization has chosen the theme “The Power of the Egg” to highlight the egg’s unique nutritional value, global accessibility, and importance in a healthy diet. It’s a special day reminding us how much strength and vitality is hidden inside this small yet powerful natural wonder—the egg, often called a “multivitamin from nature.” Eggs are an essential part of everyday nutrition—they are versatile and easy to prepare. However, with the rising cost of living, this wholesome product is not always easily accessible to everyone.

“This charity initiative means much more to us than simply celebrating World Egg Day. This year, 10,000 eggs will reach people facing food insecurity, helping them maintain their health and energy in daily life. Sharing what we do every day and what we truly believe in is close to our hearts. We strive to develop our operations so that eggs are a widely available and affordable product for everyone in Latvia, while also caring for the environment, ensuring animal welfare, and contributing to the country’s sustainable development,”
emphasizes Toms Auškāps, Head of Communication and Development at A/S Balticovo.

We are grateful to Balticovo, for whom egg donation on World Egg Day has already become a tradition. This generous contribution will enrich our food packages with a valuable and healthy product — and just as importantly, a locally produced one. Gestures like this remind us that we are all connected — both individuals and businesses — and together we build a society where well-being grows through sharing and extending a helping hand to those facing difficult times,”
says Agita Kraukle, Head of the food bank
“Paēdušai Latvijai.”

Balticovo’s World Egg Day charity initiative has become an annual tradition — each year the company donates to non-governmental organizations such as “Paēdušai Latvijai” and “Tavi draugi,” supporting people in need and Ukrainian refugees.

World Egg Day is an excellent opportunity to reflect on our own nutrition and that of those around us. Balticovoencourages everyone to celebrate the day not only with a delicious breakfast but also by remembering that even a small gesture — such as donating food — can make a big difference to those who need it most!
